Onkyo has been making great sound producing audio equipment for many years and the TX-8255 stereo receiver is just another in a long line of great receivers. At its heart is awesome amplifier and power supply that produces a Dynamic Range from 135W per channel x2 (into 2 ohms) down to 70W per channel x2 (into 8 ohms). The stereo RMS Power is awesome 50W per channel x2 (into 8 ohms).

The TX-8255 av receiver has connections in the back for 6 different audio inputs including; phono, Analog audio (x5 sets of RCA connectors), FM antenna, AM antenna and IR. If you want to connect your iPod to the TX-8255 you need a special Onkyo RI port (optional). It also has 3 output connections; Analog audio x2, headphones and speakers (x4 sets binding post style).

The actual power that drives the whole inner workings of the Onkyo TX-8255 receiver is the massive power supply. The power is fed into the amplifier, which uses WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology) to generate the high fidelity sound, which is then fed to the speakers.

Several reviewers really talked up the crisp and clear sound reproduction and power that come from this receiver. Several negative comments I found posted online centered around defective products and did not seem to be a design issue. One reviewer pointed out that the labeling is difficult see since the buttons are black and the face of the receiver is black.
