At its heart is awesome amplifier and power supply that produces a Dynamic Range from 135W per channel x2 (into 2 ohms) down to 70W per channel x2 (into 8 ohms). The stereo RMS Power is awesome 50W per channel x2 (into 8 ohms).

The TX-8255 av receiver has connections in the back for 6 different audio inputs including; phono, Analog audio (x5 sets of RCA connectors), FM antenna, AM antenna and IR. If you want to connect your iPod to the TX-8255 you need a special Onkyo RI port (optional). It also has 3 output connections; Analog audio x2, headphones and speakers (x4 sets binding post style).

The actual power that drives the whole inner workings of the Onkyo TX-8255 receiver is the massive power supply. The power is fed into the amplifier, which uses WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology) to generate the high fidelity sound, which is then fed to the speakers.
